 Psychology employment

It is a requirement that all psychologists employed with NWMH must be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) and endorsed to practice as a clinical psychologist or clinical neuropsychologist, or eligible to be enrolled in a registrar program leading to endorsement as a clinical psychologist or clinical neuropsychologist.

Recruitment requirements

Registration

All psychologists employed must be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, or provisionally registered and enrolled in a registrar program.  For further guidelines in regards to registration see the PBA website.  A registrar program is undertaken for psychologists at NWMH who are needing to work towards their endorsement to practice as a clinical psychologist or clinical neuropsychologist.

Interstate and overseas applicants

Applications to jobs at NWMH are welcomed from interstate and overseas psychologists.  Psychologists from overseas wishing to try and register with the PBA will need to have their qualifications assessed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) to determine whether their qualifications are equivalent to an Australian qualifcation that is accepted by the Board for Registration.   Qualifications will be assessed by the APS for equivlanece to an Australian four, five or six year sequence of study.  In addition, overseas appliants should consider whether they need to take an english language test and if they need to have a certificate of registration status supplied by their overseas licencing board (if they have been registered in another county).  See the following links at the APS Website for further details about assessment of equivalence and the PBA Website listed under FAQ and Fact Sheets for more information about applying for registration from Overseas.
